Is there a historic property in your neighborhood in danger of demolition? Are you a homeowner interested in learning more about your historic home? Are you worried about gentrification and want to help protect your neighborhood from aggressive development?

ANYONE can designate properties to the local historic register. Become a citizen nominator! This workshop will teach the basic tools of designating properties to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places. We will discuss:

  • Why designation?

  • Designation criteria

  • The nomination forms

  •  Research process

  • Working with the Historical Commission

This workshop from RePoint Philadelphia is a part of our Aaron Wunsch Days of Service dedicated to preserving historic places, empowering marginalized communities, and making preservation accessible to all. Originally founded by the late Penn Associate Professor Aaron Wunsch, RePoint honors Aaron’s memory by furthering his legacy of community service and multivocal preservation advocacy.
