DEMOLITION REVIEW

The Department of Licenses & Inspections issued 543 demolition permits to real estate speculators in 2019, the most in Philadelphia’s recorded history. 518 demolition permits were issued in 2018. Philadelphia must heighten scrutiny on the destruction of our historic assets.

FLEXIBLE DISTRICTS

Philadelphia is facing a demolition crisis! Preservation policy advocates seek to empower residents and halt the continuing assault on the fabric of our neighborhoods. A sliding scale system of designation and regulation would give that right to every threatened community, not just the wealthy.
